Drake's Son Adonis Makes Rap Debut With 'My Man Freestyle' as Dad's Album Tops Charts

Drake is not only celebrating his eighth studio album, For All the Dogs, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, but also his son Adonis Graham’s rap debut with “My Man Freestyle”. The six-year-old boy, who Drake shares with French artist Sophie Brussaux, surprised fans with his first track on his birthday, October 11.

Drake proudly posted a snippet of the video for “My Man Freestyle” on his Instagram, captioning it “Happy birthday, my son”. The clip shows Adonis rapping confidently over a catchy beat, wearing a blue hoodie and a gold chain. He also shows off his curly hair, which he inherited from his mother.

The full video for “My Man Freestyle” is available on YouTube, where it has already amassed over 10 million views in less than a week. The song is also featured on the outro of “Daylight”, one of the tracks from Drake’s latest album, For All the Dogs. The album, which was released on October 6, has received mixed reviews from critics and fans but has proven to be a commercial success, selling 605,000 equivalent album units in its first week.

For All the Dogs is Drake’s eighth consecutive No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, tying him with Kanye West and Eminem for the most in hip-hop history. The album boasts a star-studded roster of collaborators, including SZA, J. Cole, Chief Keef, Sexyy Red, Snoop Dogg, Sade, Teezo Touchdown, Bad Bunny, Yeat, 21 Savage, Lil Yachty and PARTYNEXTDOOR.

Drake has been open about his fatherhood journey since confirming that he had a son on his 2018 album Scorpion. He has shared several photos and videos of Adonis on social media, showing their bond and love. He has also expressed his desire to protect his son from the spotlight and the pressures of fame.

“I want to be able to go places with my son and share memories with my son,” Drake told rapper Lil Wayne on his radio show Young Money Radio with Lil Wayne on Apple Music in May 2020. “I don’t want to feel like just because of a life choice I made to be a ‘celebrity’ that I got to make everybody live under this blanket … I just wanted to free myself of that”⁵.

It seems like Drake is also supporting his son’s musical aspirations and passing on the torch to the next generation. Adonis has already shown his talent and charisma as a rapper, and fans are eager to see more of him in the future.
