“Power” seemed to be a good theme for the seventh installment of Season 2, entitled “Chicago is Heating Up!”. There were moves made to consolidate power amongst the various groups in the Chicago underworld as well as a new partnership that was not only a bit unexpected, but one that should prove extremely explosive as the action begins to intensify with the season finale in sight.
One of the most interesting character arcs in recent episodes is that of Diamond. He is placing family first by bringing Jenard back into CBI and is establishing some real roots in non-criminal relationships. Diamond really has a lot to lose should he continue down the path he is on partnered with Tommy and Jenard – it will be extremely interesting to see where he decides to put his focus as the season progresses.
The new partnership alluded to earlier will serve as one heck of a monkey wrench to the other factions on the show, one that got much stronger this episode. A very big secret has also fallen into their laps – one that will put Tommy in a very precarious position when they decide to use it against him.
Vic’s place as a mole for the Feds also continues to get more and more dangerous. The pressure Stacy Marks, the head of the team tasked with getting Tommy Egan, is putting on him to get hard evidence to use against Tommy has finally put Vic into an untenable position by the end of the episode and the shocking decision he is forced to make. Vic has to be feeling the walls closing in on him after what he had to do and it would seem the chances of him making it to Season 3 do not seem favorable.
Power Book IV: Force Season 2 is streaming on the Starz network.
