Jes-Mc: HipHop sensation

JES-MC was born in Croydons Mayday Hospital on 7th October 1984 as Jamar Samuel (Rodrigues-Coelho) Mckenzie.

JES-MC is of Angloan, Portuguese and Jamaican descent and started his music career as a backing MC for Titcher-MC ( “read all about it”),  a legend of the original House and Garage pirate radio/rave scene.

Inspired and favoring the commercial and  professional sound of 90’s US Hiphop/RNB, JES-MC moved away from the House and Garage movement and focused his artistic efforts on creating his own unique and balanced style of MCing over a variety of instrumentals with both US Hiphop and House and Garage undertones, creating a pioneering montage both sonically and lyrically.

Infamously dubbed South-East Londons answer to Jay-Z, JES-MC quickly developed a loyal fan base in his local area Crystal Palace, where he was brought up by his married parents.

JES-MC began his recording career producing songs based on his impoverished upbringing and shattered dreams of becoming a professional footballer; the catalyst of his criminal activity at the time also a big feature in his lyrical content throughout the early stages of his development as an recording-artist.Soon after making the transition from local House and Garage MC he back tracked to his long term friend Titch to focus on a more universal sound, forming the group R.O.L.E alongside Titch’s brother DBO; JES-MC’s 4 brothers; Nutzy, Mush, Ginge and Guinness, including several other artists that collaborated on the tracks.

JES-MC is currently working on his solo album whilst releasing mixtape’s with other artist and tributary branches of the original R.O.L.E group.

He is signed with the AMP (Alchemy Music Productions) record label and released his debut EP as a solo artist in January 2020.
