Cardi B recently featured on Shakira’s track “Puntería,” the opening song on Shakira’s latest album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran. This collaboration showcased a different style for Cardi B compared to her recent tracks like “Like What (Freestyle)” and “Enough (Miami),” which were known for their strong lyrics and subtle jabs at rivals. Produced by David Stewart, this new song had Cardi B rapping in both English and Spanish.
In the song, Cardi B’s lyrics included lines like “Baby, keep me company/ Dame de tu fire, apriétame las nalga’ aunque tú no seas pa’ mí/ I got the night, night, put a man right to sleep/ Yeah, I’m pretty lil’ thing from face to feet/ I’m from the Bronx, but I got a Georgia peach/ I got an empanada, mama, that he love to eat.” This bilingual delivery showcased her versatility as an artist.

Cardi B shared details about her collaboration with Shakira during an episode of “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” earlier this month. She recounted how they met at Paris Fashion Week, and shortly after, Shakira’s team reached out to her.
Expressing her excitement, Cardi mentioned, “I always wanted to do a record with Shakira, and it’s like, wow, it landed on my lap. It really landed on my lap, so I got a record coming out with her next week.” She emphasized her willingness to go the extra mile for the collaboration, stating, “‘Bch, I’ll do whatever the fk you want me to do, b**ch. I’ll fly to Colombia.’ Like, I’ll go over there right now.”
Describing her encounter with Shakira in Paris, Cardi revealed, “I saw her in Paris, and I talked to her. I don’t like being in b**ches’ faces about it. I’m like, ‘I have to. My sister, she did a talent show when she was in first grade, and she won doing your song! I just love you so much, like you’re a part of my life.’ And then, her team reached out to me. I’m like, ‘Oh, Shakira, Shakira.’ I was gagging.”
The release of “Puntería” followed Cardi B’s recent feature on Flo Milli’s “Never Lose Me (Remix)” with SZA. Additionally, Cardi is preparing to launch her second album in 2024.
