Mike Braxton: Director of The Mini-Series of Unfinished Business

We sat down for an exclusive interview with Michael Braxton, Director of the mini-series of unfinished business. Here’s how it went:

Mike B, let’s dive right into this.

Tell us about the mini-series.

Unfinished Business is an American crime drama web series set in Philadelphia. Before this project, I was involved in another project. Once I saw things were not coming together, I stepped off and made plans to work on my stuff.

Was it different putting together the new cast?

I wanted to work with new people who had no prior acting experience.
My goal was to build a team for the long haul if it didn’t work out, then back to the drawing board. You never know until you try it once. Most of that work is in relationship building. You want people to see your vision, and hopefully, they would like to be a part of it.

We also hear you also have a Music Video Show? Tell us about that?

I started off doing promotions for local rap artists in the Philadelphia area. My big break was doing promotions for Kurupt from Tha Dogg Pound. I helped set up campaigns for serval of his albums that were released. Then, about three years ago, I started the Street Sounds Music Video show. Street Sounds is an indy music video show that showcases new artists in the rap, r&b, and hip-hop fields. I believe the independent artists need a place to show off the work they have been creating. The show currently airs via Xfinity (Comcast ch 66/966/967) and Verizon (ch 29/30) in the Philadelphia television market area. And viewers can also catch the show via Fire-Tv and Roku.

What is your typical process when working with new artists for street sound video shows?

Many artists are pretty misunderstood these days. The lack of knowledge is a setback for them. No longer can you have hot music. The marketing and promotions of that track always play a heavy influence on how the public will either like or dislike that song. I like working with new acts and showing them how to upgrade their brand awareness. So if you’re about hard work, I am willing to work with you.

Let’s talk more about the mini-series?

The plot of the mini-series is about the illegal activities of a corrupt Philadelphia police drug task force. The team of corrupt detectives played by Adam Bulter, aka Detective Mattison, and Detective Jackson played by Giovanni Jackson, along with new rookie Detective Skeet played by Gregory Lomax. Their job is to shake down the bad guys and line their pockets up.

What’s up next for you? Any new projects?

We’re starting season three of the mini-series of Unfinished Business Filming, which starts this month, and it will continue until the season end. For us, it is never-ending. Street Sounds are going into season number four.

Who’s your ideal film director to collaborate with and why?

I want to work with Eif Rivera. I’ve been a big supporter of his work. He has worked with some of the greats in the music game like 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, Pop Smoke. You name them, and he has worked with them, from music videos to tv series. He’s been doing his thing, and you have to give him his props for that.

What’s one thing you’d like our audience to know about you?

Opportunities are missed every day because people are more comfortable doing what they know rather than branching out and learning what will have a lasting impact.

Be the best person you can be. Only you can make it happen.
