Today we had an exclusive chance to interview C6merxn:
What is your stage name and how did you come up with it?
My stage name is c6merxn, my real name is Cameron and I just played around with some of the letters replacing the a with a 6 and the o with an x to look cool. Just the name Cameron was obviously taken on all social medias so I had to be creative to make myself stand out.
Why did you first start making music?
I first started making music because it was my escape from reality. I was able to tune out all of my insecurities and doubts through music. I like getting in my zone and taking time to either produce or record a track. It’s a nice break from everything else that’s going on around me.
Talk me through your creative process.
I developed a rigid release schedule for my tracks. I want to get my voice and my musical style out there, and the best way to do that is to release lots of music. I post all my stuff on streaming services like Apple Music, Spotify and Soundcloud, and I’ve made a significant impact on these platforms.
Where and how do you work best?
I work the best in my room for sure. If you go to my Instagram you will always see pics of me that I take when I am just working in my room, that’s my place. Especially when its dark out I got these sick LED lights I just turn them on and im in my zone working all night.
Have you heard the theory that some musicians write their best music while they’re depressed or going through a bad time?
Yea I’ve heard that and I definitely think its partially true, but it depends on the genre. If you/re releasing some emo music then for sure that statement applies, but with me I am in a pretty good place right now. I used to be depressed but lately I’ve just been enjoying my life to the fullest.
How do you go about marketing and networking?
I have a big background in social media marketing. As a teenager I ran a bunch of big meme pages on Instagram that I built up myself. I found that those skills help me out a lot now in the music industry and have been making my songs gain a lot of traction and streams online. My song DOORDASH has over 50,000 streams on Spotify already.
What’s your latest release?
My latest release is my debut mixtape TRAP which is out now on all streaming services! I also recently dropped my single DOORDASH which has been blowing up and im really thankful for that.
If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?
Lil Uzi for sure hes dope and I’ve always been a big fan. He’s unique as hell and I love his vibe.
What are you focusing your time on now?
Right now I am focusing on releasing more music for all my fans. I’m currently working on my self-titled debut album “c6merxn” which I’ll probably drop some time in November. I also want to show off my production skills and make an album thats just my instrumentals and nothing else. I feel like that’d be chill to listen to for sure.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
New artists need an easier way to show their talent. There is so much talent out there that’s not getting recognized by the mainstream. If my career continues to take off I definitely want to use my skills with social media marketing to help other artists kickstart their careers!
