Power Book IV: Force Season 2, Episode 6 SPOILERLESS Review

A person’s character is truly forged when they are tested. Through the crucible of loss of loved ones, fortunes, standing, and more things too numerous to list, the true character of a person comes shining through. This episode of Power Book IV: Force Season 2 put many of the central characters to the test, with some meeting their challenges admirably and some crumbling underneath their oppressive weight.

Episode Six, titled “Here There Be Monsters”, found many of the characters adjusting to their new normal, which was set into place last episode with the murder of Walter Flynn. Vic and Claudia continue to move in different directions, with more dark clouds forming over their strained partnership. Walter told Claudia to her face that a woman would never run the Flynn criminal empire, a sentiment she keeps running up against. Claudia is certainly not going to surrender power without a fight and she continues to calculate her strategy very carefully in this installment.

Diamond has to deal with complications in not only his business life with Jenard coming back into the CBI fold, but in his personal life as well. Both Diamond and Jenard get to showcase the layers of complexity each has bubbling underneath their tough exterior. While there were still plenty of swerves and action in this episode, it was the moments the viewer got to see the characters respond to the pressures being applied to them that really made this episode special.

Finally, there is Tommy. He finds his allegiance being tested as well as his motives, from a most unexpected source. In the quiet of the night, Tommy seems to crack in the face of the visitor from his past as his future is called into question. If forced to choose between the criminal empire he is trying to create Tony Montana style or his growing relationship with Miralina, what will he decide?

Power Book IV: Force Season 2 is streaming on the Starz! network.

When not spending time with his wife and two boys, Michael is either writing, reading, or cooking badly. After college, he moved to New York City to break into acting, then back to Virginia to attend professional wrestling school until a couple close calls in the ring sidelined those dreams. That’s when the writing bug bit and bit hard.
