The Impact of Ye’s Commentary on Drake’s Evolution in the Wake of “Like That” Remix

Kanye West, also known as Ye, recently reignited his feud with Drake through a remix of Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That.” The Yeezy designer released his version of the song on Justin Laboy’s “The Download” podcast on April 20.

In a preview of their upcoming interview, Ye discussed the collaboration and his intentions behind the lyrics. He mentioned that Future, known as Pluto, invited him to the studio, where they added chords and collaborated with The Hooligans, a group of Inter Milan ultras who previously worked with Ye on “CARNIVAL” from VULTURES 1.

Ye expressed excitement about removing Drake from the music scene, stating, “Everybody is very, very excited about the elimination of Drake. Not excited; we were energized.” He also targeted Universal Music Group CEO Lucian Grainge, accusing him of controlling Drake’s career.

Ye rapped about Drake’s reported $400 million deal with UMG in his remix, saying, “Where’s Lucian? Serve your master, nga/ You caught a little bag for your masters, didn’t ya?/ Lifetime deal, I feel bad for ngas.”

The feud between Ye and Drake has continued since their reconciliation at the 2021 Free Larry Hoover Benefit Concert. Drake has sampled Kim Kardashian on “Search & Rescue” and mentioned Ye on “Red Button.” In March, Ye expressed his disapproval of Drake taking Lil Durk on tour during the album rollout for VULTURES 1.
