Exclusive interview with Young Faybo

Today we had an exclusive chance to interview Young Faybo:

How did you come up with a stage name?
I just thought it was a dope name people always got stage names aside from their gov’t names. I wanted something that was different and dope, one day I was sitting in my studio and started thinking of names and YUNG FAYBO came to mind. And I googled to see if anyone had my name and no one did. And so I took it and ran with it.

Why did you first start making music?
I always had a love for music growing up in church, I played keys and I have been singing dang near my whole life and I play around with rapping. But music was my scape goat for different traumas I faced growing up. Music calms me and make me feel at peace. And I never forget I was a kid and my brother would play keys and someone I consider like my uncle would help him practice. My uncle is like one of the greatest organist/pianist I know. And when everyone left I would sneak on the piano and play exactly what they played and no one knew until I went to summer school and my teacher spilled the beans like you have this amazing pianist he can play by ear. And that’s where my passion came and that’s how my love for music began.

Who would you say inspired you the most, as an artist?
Most of all Church, growing up playing for the choir and playing behind some of the then greatest church singers, Tank, Eric Dawkins and of course Dawkins and Dawkins, The Underdogs, J Moss, Kim Burrell, Bishop Darrell Hines and I can keep going on and on because I’m a musician at heart. And we know great singers and great music when we listen. That’s been my inspiration seeing others before me make hits and inspire people to fall in love with their sound.

Have you heard the theory that some musicians write their best music while they’re depressed or going through a bad time?
Yes, and I totally agree I have written some great music during my toughest times. And I think the reason being is that, no one is in the moment and that situation feeling how your feeling but you. And music is very therapeutic, matter of fact music is therapy and you’re able to capture true emotion and true feeling in the moment, in spite of your circumstances. But no matter what though, you have to keep going you have to keep pushing and know that better days are coming. And use that time to create the music that helps you through those time, to help others.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?
My music is me, it’s who I am, the moments I feel happy, feel sad, feel love, feel pain, feel up, feel down, it’s just a collective of me. And my life’s moments that I capture on record. And it’s a lot of what I’ve been through, that people will be able to relate to. But most of all I love to see people smile, and be happy with my music and feel love.

What’s your latest release?
My latest release is “Pin That Body” newly released 02.19.21, it’s a love song for the lovers out there. Don’t judge me but I feel everyone needs love, it’s a natural habitat that was created for us. You know I hear a lot of music now and the essence of that real love music needs to return. And that’s what I wanted to do is give people just that some romance and heavy word play, some guitar, heavy bass and heavy melodic sound.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?
I think Summer Walker, or SZA and I could come up with some fire in the studio. But also I would like to collaborate with any great artist that want’s collaborate. As long as we can come up with some hits to give the people I’m with it. I’m not Bias towards working with nobody, let’s work and make hits for real.

What’s your best advice for handling criticism?
I always told myself growing up that 1 person’s perspective of me is 1 to a Billion. And the percentage or factor, their perspective brings doesn’t hold any value. So I don’t really focus on the negatives because I’m always about positivity and up lifting people and helping where there’s a need. But if it’s criticism that will help me elevate, then I’m all ears and action. If it helps me to better myself to get to the next level. I’m the one who always sat down, and listen to the wisdom of my elders growing up. True fact

What surprising lessons have you learned along the way?
To take advantage of every moment and every opportunity to become great. Like today is a day you’ve never seen before and day you’ll never see again, so your why is now your moment is now your opportunity is now so take advantage. And remember when you know you’re destined for greatest, never settle for mediocre because you’ll never be satisfied until you’re in your element. You’re never going to be happy until you’re doing what you love. So keep this in mind, you can never get a positive from a negative. But with all positives you can defy all odds.

What are you focusing your time on now?
Working on New Records for my EP coming soon. Also, I’m in the studio every day recording and producing new records. I’m just perfecting my gift, and my passion for music. But stay on the look out, you can follow me on IG @yungfaybo or go to my website to stay up to date www.yungfaybo.com. I’m constantly creating though every day.

How do you currently feel about the state of R&B and Hip-hop in general?
It’s heading in a great direction there’s a lot of great artist out there that’s making their impact on the world. And expressing their true emotion through their music you can feel the love you can feel the timeless emotion of the artist today. And that’s why I feel it’s elevating back in the day it was only a hand full of creatives making hits now it’s people coming out the wood works with hits. So I’m just trying to make my impact on the world as well through song and timeless emotion.
