Nicki Minaj’s mixtape is landing on the charts for the first time.
Twelve years after its initial release, Beam Me Up Scotty is set to debut at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The groundbreaking project, which was released on streaming platforms for the first time on May 14, is expected to sell 80,000 equivalent album units in its first week.
Taking to Twitter, a grateful Minaj reflected on her journey while thanking her loyal Barbz for their support. “80K wow. My 12 year ago self would be so proud,” she tweeted. “No videos, lyric videos, no tik tok challenges, no radio & no heavy playlisting due to it coming as a surprise. Didn’t even drop w clean versions to the songs.”
Beam Me Up Scotty, Minaj’s third mixtape, was originally released on April 18, 2009, and paved the way for her iconic career. “Long live #BeamMeUpScotty I love you guys so much. Thank you so much,” she added.
In addition to the original 18 tracks, Beam Me Up Scotty features three new songs including “Fractions,” “Crocodile Teeth (Remix),” and “Seeing Green” with Drake and Lil Wayne. The previously-released “Chi-Raq” and “Boss Ass Bitch (Remix)” are also included.
