Pharrell Williams’ new LEGO set, Over the Moon, will be available starting today, September 20. This space-themed kit consists of 966 pieces and includes two mini-figures, inspired by a scene from his upcoming biopic, Piece By Piece.
Prior to the launch, Williams attended an exclusive event in Paris where he discussed his passion for space with LEGO’s Vice President of Global Brand Development, Alero Akuya. Reflecting on his childhood, he shared how he would gaze at the night sky from his home and ponder questions about the universe that his mother couldn’t answer. “Space always represented this… space,” he said, noting that it sparked endless curiosity for him.
The Over the Moon set is notable for featuring LEGO’s most diverse range of customizable skin tones to date, with a total of 50 interchangeable heads—30 of which were specifically created for this launch. Priced at $109.99, the set aims to promote inclusivity and representation in the toy industry. Williams emphasized the significance of sharing his story as a Black man from a marginalized community through this project, making it accessible and relatable to a broader audience. The biopic is set to premiere on October 11 and will feature cameos from artists like Kendrick Lamar, JAY-Z, Snoop Dogg, Justin Timberlake, and Timbaland.
