Earlier this year, Ice Spice and Latto exchanged barbs in their respective tracks “Think U The S**t (Fart)” and “Sunday Service.” However, Latto recently downplayed the seriousness of their rivalry in an interview with *Billboard* on July 19.
Latto expressed that she doesn’t believe their feud will escalate to the level of the ongoing conflict between Kendrick Lamar and Drake. She stated, “I mean this in the most understanding [way]: I’m a fan of music. I’m not one of them ‘lyrical only; anything else is bulls**t’ [type of] people.”
She further clarified her stance on rap battles, saying, “If I [were] to do [a battle], it would have to be with somebody I feel like I’ma go tit for tat with. I really don’t mean it as shade. Would she even want to do that? I feel like she’s doing her in her lane.” Latto emphasized that their musical styles are different, and she doesn’t perceive Ice Spice as someone looking to engage in a serious rap beef.
Latto concluded, “Everybody gon’ take their lil’ jabs in the music, and it’s not even that serious to me. I feel like you should do that. Continue to! But as far as actual whole diss records to each other, I don’t think she would even want to do that. I feel like… would it even make sense? It wouldn’t.”
In addition to discussing her rivalry with Ice Spice, Latto is preparing for the release of her upcoming album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea, scheduled for August. The title is an acronym that fans have linked to Ice Spice’s infamous chorus in “Think U The S**t (Fart).” Ahead of the album, Latto has collaborated with Megan Thee Stallion and Flo Milli on the “Sunday Service (Remix)” and released a two-part track titled “Big Mama.”
