Rihanna recently surprised fans by playfully questioning rising rapper GloRilla about her upcoming debut album release, despite her own long-awaited ninth studio album still being under wraps.
On Tuesday (July 2), GloRilla shared an Instagram DM from Rihanna that read, “You got all summer, sis! I know [this is] wild hypocritical, but when [does] the album drop?” Fans were shocked, with one commenting “Ri asking for an album is diabolical” and another saying “I would have sent the reverse UNO card to RiRi [because what do you mean]?”
The exchange came after Rihanna went viral for rapping along to GloRilla’s hit “TGIF” in a video with ASAP Rocky. Rihanna has kept details of her own album, the follow-up to 2016’s chart-topping ANTI, tightly under wraps. She recently joked about retiring from music, though ASAP Rocky said months ago she’s “working on it”.
Meanwhile, GloRilla released her debut project Ehhthang Ehhthang in April, featuring the Megan Thee Stallion collab “Wanna Be” and songs with Moneybagg Yo. She’s currently supporting Megan on tour.
While the cousin rumors remain unconfirmed, Rihanna’s playful message to GloRilla has sparked excitement for new music from both artists. Fans are eagerly awaiting official release details from the two rising stars.
