Halfway through this season of Power Book IV: Force and there are no signs of the action slowing down. This episode was a pivotal one in that one of the central characters to the drama met their untimely end. Aside from this death, the dynamics between the characters continued to evolve and shift, some moving further and further toward a point of no return.
Jenard’s downward spiral continued in this installment, entitled “Crown Vic.” He has become one of the most interesting characters in the series as well as the one who’s lows seem to keep getting lower and lower. Not only has the train jumped the tracks in his case, but it seems destined to slam into a mountain or equally-painful immovable object.
Touching on the death in the episode, for a series that has been able to throw so many swerves and interesting twists into the action, it was a little disappointing that this sequence had none of the above. The death itself seemed fairly predictable in the way it played out – one of the few missteps taken by the writers to this point.
Another interesting occurrence in this episode was the shifting allegiances of some of the characters – some coming back together while others drifted further apart. With this phenomenon, there also seems to be a hint that some secrets are about to come out – ones that will undoubtedly cause fireworks and add to the rising body count of the series.
There is a building sense that the events in this episode will be felt at the series end, giving the writers plenty of time to raise the intensity to a fever pitch. Power Book IV: Force Season 2 is streaming on the Starz Network.
