In a recent interview with The Breakfast Club, 42 Dugg shared his honest thoughts on the current state of hip-hop and acknowledged the rising dominance of women rappers in the industry.
Dugg noted that women artists are currently outpacing their male counterparts in terms of hit records. “Yeah, you see who’s doing it now: the girls. It is shifting over. The girls are putting out the heat. It’s damn near like everything they put out is a hit. Certain girls, you know, are hitting. You start to think, like d**n, are we competing with them?”
Charlamagne The God agreed with Dugg’s observation, suggesting that women in rap are having more fun and not being as tough compared to male rappers. Dugg then offered some advice for women artists, proposing collaborations between rising stars like Sexyy Red and GloRilla, similar to the successful joint projects between Drake and Future.
The Breakfast Club hosts supported Dugg’s idea, believing that increased collaboration among women in rap would benefit the genre as a whole.
Dugg’s debut studio album “4eva Us, Neva Them,” released on July 5, 2024, features a star-studded lineup of guests including Lil Baby, Meek Mill, Sexyy Red, Jeezy, EST Gee, Rylo Rodriguez, and Blac Youngsta[3][4]. The 21-track project marks Dugg’s official return to music after a lengthy hiatus and showcases his signature energetic style and distinctive tone that have made him a force to be reckoned with in the rap game.
