On Tuesday, August 27, Grammy-winning artist Victoria Monét teamed up with R&B icon Usher to release their highly anticipated single “SOS (Sex on Sight)”. The sultry track, which serves as Monét’s first standalone release of the year, showcases the pair serenading about the excitement of meeting a lover over a smooth R&B backdrop.
“SOS (Sex on Sight)” marks the first release from the deluxe edition of Monét’s acclaimed 2023 album JAGUAR II. The song continues Monét’s trend of exploring desire and the intense need for love, physical touch, and meaningful attention. As she described in a press release, “Sometimes that desire can feel as urgent as being rescued from a natural disaster, or in this case rescued from your own sensual urges.”
Monét and Usher trade verses over a rhythmic bassline, with production by Camper and a horn section reminiscent of Monét’s previous releases[2][3]. The lyrics showcase the pair’s playful and sultry chemistry, with Monét singing, “Let me f**k up all your plans / Come put this work in / ‘Cause I think it’s about time we take this all the way.”
Usher also contributes his signature smooth vocals, crooning, “I got a question, though / If I can make the time, are we good to go? / Texting me X and O’s / Can’t kiss, touch, lick through the phone, though.”
“SOS (Sex on Sight)” is available now via Lovett Music/RCA Records[3]. Monét has not yet announced a release date for her JAGUAR II Deluxe project, but she has two upcoming fall performances scheduled: at the iHeartRadio Music Festival 2024 in Las Vegas on September 21 and at ONE Musicfest in Atlanta on October 27.
