BMAC co-founder and CEO Willie “Prophet” Stiggers expressed excitement about the honorees, stating, “We’re thrilled to celebrate this year’s honorees who have utilized their talents, platforms, and resources to create a positive and meaningful impact in social and racial justice globally.” He emphasized the importance of recognizing these achievements at a critical time for the industry and society.
Other honorees include BET Media Group executives Scott Mills, Louis Carr, Constance Orlando, and Kimberly Paige, as well as Ivy McGregor, Executive Director of BeyGOOD, who will receive the BMAC Change Agent Award. Live Nation will be awarded the BMAC 365 Award.
In addition to the gala, Usher’s film RENDEZVOUS IN PARIS, which showcases his performances during an eight-show residency at La Seine Musicale in 2023, is set to be released globally in September. The documentary, directed by Anthony Mandler, features renditions of his hits like “My Boo,” “Love In This Club,” and “Yeah!” The official trailer for the film was released on August 6.
