Tyla Previews ‘WE WANNA PARTY’ Mixtape After “IS IT” Single Release

South African singer Tyla is gearing up for a major summer moment with the release of her new single “IS IT” on July 11, setting the tone for her forthcoming mixtape WE WANNA PARTY, expected later this season. The project follows her 2024 self-titled debut album and promises to showcase her growth as a versatile, genre-blending artist on the global stage.

The new single features Tyla’s signature blend of candid lyricism and infectious rhythms, with lyrics that explore themes of independence and attraction:

“Is it the f**ks that I don’t give? / Is it the men that I don’t miss? / Is this song why we get along? / Or am I coming on a little strong?”

Fans can anticipate that “IS IT” along with May’s “BLISS” will be part of the mixtape’s tracklist, though an exact release date has yet to be announced.

Tyla’s upcoming mixtape arrives amid a resurgence of the format among mainstream artists, offering more creative freedom and fewer constraints compared to traditional albums. Recent notable mixtape releases include Lizzo’s MY FACE HURTS FROM SMILING and the highly anticipated A Futuristic Summa from Metro Boomin.

WE WANNA PARTY builds on the success of Tyla’s debut, which featured hits like “Water” — her Grammy Award-winning breakthrough — as well as collaborations with Gunna and Skillibeng. The deluxe edition added fan favorites such as “PUSH 2 START.”

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Tyla highlighted the cultural differences in party scenes, noting:

“In America, I feel like the parties are more for networking than partying. In South Africa, it’s literally purely just to dance. Everyone is dancing.”

With this mixtape, Tyla aims to bring the vibrant energy of South African party culture to a broader audience, promising a fresh and dynamic listening experience this summer.
