On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, Canadian singer The Weeknd revealed the title of his highly anticipated final album in the After Hours / Dawn FM trilogy as Hurry Up Tomorrow. The announcement came alongside a cryptic teaser post featuring ominous text over a black background.
The text read:
“Yesterday was 14 years ago… We held our breath, falling into a shimmering sea in the after hours of the night. Attempted to cleanse the wounds with melodies and lights, a bulletproof bandage to shield what lies beneath. In a place where the seasons never changed, where time ceased to exist. But therein lays the problem.”
It continued:
“Today has felt like an endless spin. I keep distorting the truth, immune to the dizziness, numb to the nausea. What lies beneath — screams in silence. I look in the mirror and feel both old and new, stuck in limbo and unable to move. I still haven’t faced myself… The very thing that once made me invincible failed me on the world stage. A new trauma surfaced.”
Unfortunately, The Weeknd did not reveal the release date for Hurry Up Tomorrow[2][4][5]. However, he explained that the album represents the creative apex of the project, serving as the third and final chapter crafted with existential and self-referential themes.
In August, The Weeknd unveiled the third of three mysterious trailers previewing unreleased music[3]. He has also recently appeared on several other artists’ records, including Future and Metro Boomin’s “Young Metro” in March and three other songs with the duo in April: “Always Be My Fault,” “All to Myself,” and “We Still Don’t Trust You.”
Fans eagerly await the release of Hurry Up Tomorrow, which will conclude The Weeknd’s acclaimed trilogy that began with 2020’s After Hours and 2022’s Dawn FM.
