Tems’ debut studio album, Born in the Wild, released on June 7, 2024, has received widespread acclaim from both fans and critics. During a recent appearance on Kick Game’s “Shopping For Sneakers” on September 1, she hinted at the possibility of a deluxe edition of the album. Tems shared that she initially recorded 30 songs for the project but ultimately selected 18 for the final cut. When asked about an updated version, she teased, “It’s possible that it’s coming. I’m not confirming or denying”.
The artist also mentioned that there were additional features considered for the album, though she declined to specify who they were. Notably, she confirmed that Future, with whom she collaborated on “WAIT FOR U,” would not be part of the deluxe edition, stating, “What? No. I really like Future. Future is one of the GOATs”.
Born in the Wild includes collaborations with J. Cole on “Free Fall” and Asake on “Get It Right,” alongside standout tracks like “Burning,” “Wickedest,” and “Unfortunate.” In discussing the album’s themes, Tems explained that it reflects the struggles of feeling misunderstood and the journey of self-discovery, stating, “Everybody feels like they’re bad, but meanwhile, you’re actually unfortunate”.
In addition to her musical endeavors, Tems showcased her sneaker preferences during the show, highlighting choices like the Air Jordan 4 Retro “Oxidized Green” and the Stüssy x Nike Dunk Low Pro SB “Cherry”.
Tems is currently on her Born In The Wild World Tour, having kicked off the North American leg in August. The tour will continue through major cities in September before heading to Africa, Asia, and Australia in October.
