Sabrina Carpenter Outsells Travis Scott for No. 1 on Billboard 200

Travis Scott’s DAYS BEFORE RODEO failed to secure the top position on the Billboard 200 chart, with Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet claiming the No. 1 spot instead. Billboard announced on September 3 that Carpenter’s album achieved 362,000 album-equivalent units in its debut week, narrowly surpassing Scott’s re-released 2014 project, which garnered 361,000 units. Notably, Scott’s total included 300,000 digital downloads and 30,000 from streaming equivalents, marking the fourth-largest debut of 2024 for any album.

The re-release of DAYS BEFORE RODEO coincided with its 10th anniversary, featuring 12 tracks including “Drugs You Should Try It,” “Mamacita” (featuring Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan), and “Skyfall.” In a bid to boost sales, Scott released five additional versions of the project shortly after its initial re-release, including a chopped and screwed version and live cuts from his Atlanta show, along with three deluxe editions featuring new tracks.

In a show of support, Nicki Minaj publicly acknowledged Carpenter’s achievement during an Instagram Live session, further fueling the competitive atmosphere between the two artists.

Despite not reaching the top spot, Scott celebrated a legal victory as well, with charges from a Miami Beach incident being dropped just days prior to the chart announcement.
