Megan Thee Stallion and BTS member RM have released their highly anticipated collaboration, “Neva Play,” on September 6, 2024. The single features a vibrant music video directed by Warren Fu and Carl Jones, known for their work on “The Boondocks.” The video showcases Megan in an arcade setting, playing pinball and rapping, while RM appears as an animated character, adding a unique visual element to the project.
In her verses, Megan references “Dragon Ball” characters Bulma and Chi-Chi, and addresses her critics with lines like, “Mmm, I can’t help that I’m that girl.” The song emphasizes themes of success and confidence, with lyrics such as, “Talkin’ ’bout never been one to play with. Money talk and it’s my first language”.
The collaboration follows Megan’s recent announcement of a potential deluxe album and her involvement in a Pepsi commercial where she reinterprets Queen’s “We Will Rock You” alongside NFL stars. Megan expressed her excitement about the collaboration, stating that she had never heard RM rap in this style before, highlighting the creative synergy between the two artists.
“Neva Play” marks another chapter in Megan’s career, following her third album, Megan, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, and continues to showcase her dynamic presence in the music industry.
