LL Cool J Celebrates New School Hip Hop Artists Like Saweetie and Lil Durk

LL Cool J, a veteran in the hip-hop scene for nearly 40 years, expressed his admiration for the current generation of rappers during an interview on “The Breakfast Club” on September 6. He shared his enthusiasm for various artists, stating, “I like everything. I was listening to Young Nudy today… I like the Lil Durk thing, but I like Cordae. I like some of what GloRilla is doing.”

He emphasized his ongoing engagement with hip-hop culture, countering the perception that he is out of touch. “People think that I go home and don’t know what the hell is going on in the world, but I’m actually paying attention,” he noted.

LL also discussed his collaboration with Saweetie, acknowledging her talent despite her sometimes being undervalued as a lyricist. He mentioned being impressed by her performance on “Best Friend” with Doja Cat, which led him to invite her to join him on his latest project, Proclivities. He stated, “That’s an opportunity for her to be better and she took her time and worked on that project.”

His 14th studio album, The FORCE, was released at midnight and features 14 tracks, including collaborations with Eminem, Rick Ross, Fat Joe, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, and Nas, showcasing his continued relevance in the music industry.
