Lil Tecca has been on an impressive streak, recently releasing his new studio album, PLAN A, earlier this month. In an interview with Complex on September 26, the Queens rapper discussed his thoughts on album sales and the significance of achieving the most RIAA certifications for a rapper aged 21 or younger.
“It’s crazy, honestly, but it has nothing to do with me. All the credit is to the people who support it,” Tecca stated regarding his certifications. He expressed pride in his accomplishments but emphasized that they do not inflate his ego, explaining, “I’m just the face of Lil Tecca.” He acknowledged that while he created the music, it was ultimately the fans who propelled it to success: “I made the song, but I ain’t make it go platinum.”
Tecca’s accolades include ten RIAA-certified platinum singles and one certification for his 2019 project, We Love You Tecca. He noted that these achievements are a reflection of how well his music resonates with listeners. “Numbers are still stats at the end of the day,” he remarked. “If it connected a lot, I did my job. If it didn’t connect a lot, let me get back and do some new s**t.”
PLAN A features previously released tracks like “BAD TIME,” “NUMBER 2,” “NEVER LAST,” and “TASTE.” The album includes a collaboration with Don Toliver as its only feature, with production credits going to Taz Taylor, KC Supreme, and others. Additionally, a deluxe edition of the album is available for pre-order on Tecca’s website and is expected to include two new songs: “RIGHT NOW RADIO” and “RISK MY LIFE.”
