Rapper JT, known for her hit “City Cinderella,” has taken concrete steps to support the trans community, moving beyond conversation to real action. This July, JT partnered with Mother, Daughter, Holy Spirit (MDHS) to launch a limited-edition Pride T-shirt, with proceeds benefiting the Trans Justice Funding Project (TJFP)—a grassroots initiative supporting trans-led groups across the U.S.
The collaboration’s centerpiece is a T-shirt emblazoned with the phrase “Pretty like a transgender,” a nod to JT’s 2023 single “No Bars,” and featuring her image on the back. The merch drop, which coincided with NYC Pride, aims to celebrate Pride while directly supporting trans justice efforts. JT’s involvement is personal; she cites deep connections with her LGBTQ+ fanbase and friends as the foundation for her advocacy. “I wanted to give back for real, and show my love and unwavering support to the beautiful trans women and men in a time where a lot of politicians and people seem to just can’t mind they damn business,” JT told Vogue.
JT emphasizes that her support extends beyond Pride Month, reflecting a year-round commitment to the trans community. She recently celebrated her first NYC Pride as a performer, joining artists like TiaCorine and MikeQ on stage, and described the experience as a highlight of her year.
In addition to her activism, JT continues to release new music, including her March single “Ran Out” and a recent KAYTRANADA-assisted remix. Through her partnership with MDHS and TJFP, JT is using her platform to champion trans rights and provide tangible support to grassroots initiatives.
