Young Thug remains in “great spirits” in light of recent events.
Thug’s former fiancée Jerrika Karlae shared an update on the rapper’s mental health while he remains behind bars following his arrest on RICO charges. In an interview with “The Progress Report,” Jerrika said she spoke with Thug, who is doing well despite his circumstances.
“He’s doing good, actually. He’s in great spirits. I feel like this is just a moment for him to learn a lot of lessons,” she told the podcast.
Instead of worrying about himself, Thug was more concerned for his ex’s well-being. “He was like, ‘Keep your head in the game, wake up everyday, and put a smile on your face and be thankful,’” shared Jerrika, who is signed to Young Stoner Life Records.
She has also noticed growth in her former boyfriend, who she says has always been a man of God. “I really feel like I see his faith,” she said. “That man really know the Bible inside out. Nobody would know that about him ’cause ain’t nobody talk about that.”
Just days after Thug’s arrest, his YSL signee Lil Keed died at age 24. Jerrika said Thug was “tore up” over his sudden passing.
Thug is expected to remain in jail until his trial in January 2023. He, along with Gunna and other members of YSL, were named in a 56-count RICO indictment, which includes charges ranging from drug and gun possession to murder. During a hearing on Thursday, a judge denied Thug’s bond, expressing concern that he was a danger to the community and could intimidate other witnesses.
