Flavor Flav is lucky to be alive after a near-fatal car accident.
The Public Enemy rapper was driving from Las Vegas to Los Angeles on Tuesday when the rain caused a boulder to fall down a cliffside in La Tuna Canyon, landing on the right side of his car. According to TMZ, the impact caused Flav to briefly lose control of the vehicle, but he was able to safely get it to the side of the road.
If he was driving a few feet in the other direction, the boulder could have killed him. A motorist reportedly saw the accident and pulled over to ensure that Flav was safe.
“He is very fortunate to be alive and realizes it was an extremely close call,” his manager tells E! News. “It was a boulder approximately 5 to 6 feet in diameter.”
The 62-year-old Rock & Rock Hall of Famer was able to walk away, but he is mentally shaken up. He is speaking following the harrowing incident and tells TMZ that he “came very close to death but is super grateful to be alive.”
His car, however, didn’t fare so well. Photos from the accident show damage to the front and passenger side of the white Audi. Flav’s team called AAA after the accident to have the vehicle towed.
