Eminem, the rap legend and one of the best-selling music artists of all time, turned 51 on October 17, 2023. The Detroit rapper thanked his fans for their birthday wishes in his signature style: “Thanks 2 everyone for all the bday wishes!!! Suck it!!!!!”
His longtime friend and collaborator 50 Cent also paid tribute to him on Instagram, posting a series of photos of them together and writing “Happy Birthday to the living legend @eminem love you to death man, God bless wishing you many more.”
Eminem and 50 Cent have been working together since the early 2000s when Eminem signed 50 Cent to his Shady Records label and produced his debut album, Get Rich or Die Tryin’. The two have collaborated on several hit songs, such as “Patiently Waiting”, “Crack a Bottle” and “You Don’t Know”.
Last month, 50 Cent surprised his fans in Detroit by bringing out Eminem on stage during his Final Lap tour. The duo performed “Patiently Waiting” and “Crack a Bottle” to the delight of the hometown crowd. Eminem also shouted out hip-hop’s 50th anniversary and expressed his love for Detroit.
Eminem has been relatively quiet musically this year, only appearing on one song, “Bahm Bahm”, by Nicki Minaj. However, he is still widely respected and influential in the hip-hop world, as he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year. He has also sold over 220 million records worldwide and won 15 Grammy Awards, an Academy Award and a Prime Emmy Award.
Fans are hoping that Eminem will release new music soon, as he has been known to surprise them with unexpected albums in the past. His last album, Music To Be Murdered By – Side B, came out in December 2022 and debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 chart.
