This fresh track features the smooth vocals of Courtney Chanel and is produced by Quiet. With two major releases heating up the scene, Drazmatik proves once again why he’s a force to be reckoned with on the streets and in the studio.

Alongside the release of these new tracks, we caught up with Drazmatik for an inside look at his journey and what drives his music.

What part of Jersey are you exactly from?

I’m from Trenton, the capital of New Jersey. Those are all my allies; that one was strictly for the culture. In the history of New Jersey hip-hop. It’s never been that many Trenton and Newark emcees on one track. And it was fire!

Why did you first start making music?

I fell in love with the Culture and the Rap game from the gate. It was love at first Mic. So, I shot my shot
Because I felt I was just as good as the emcees I saw on TV, if not even better. Hip-hop is a competitive Sport, and I knew I could compete. Why not take a shot at it? What did I have to lose? You never know until you try. Ya feel me. And the rest is history.

Who would you say inspired you the most, as an artist?

I would have to say it was it’s a combination of emcees, mostly the vets. BDP, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, NWA, Gang Starr, Dr. Dre, Fugees, Redman, EPMD, Das Efx, King Sun, Naughty by Naughty, Flavor Unit, Hieroglyphics, Souls of Mischief, Jay-Z, Boot Camp Click just to name a few the list goes on the culture in general.

Take me through your creative process.

The process is quite simple: stay dope and original, and just be myself and rep New Jersey like no other, and never do what they are doing. And that’s why I have a distinct sound and my own identity.

Do you remember the first rhyme you wrote?

No Doubt

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Don’t stop no matter what. Keep going because time doesn’t wait for no man. And no one is promised to see another day. So, stay away from people who don’t see your vision. Or support your movement. Time is too precious, and you can’t get it back when it’s gone.

Have there been many obstacles in your career?

Too many, but you have to keep pushing till you push through. Because life doesn’t stop throwing sh!t at you. From the haters all the way up to the gatekeepers. You just got to remain solid. Regardless of what, when you got people depending on you.

What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received about your music?

We make quality music & created a lane for myself and Eastern Standard Time Records LLC. And we sound like nobody, nothing else, and definitely stand out.

Have you heard the theory that some musicians write their best music while they’re depressed or going through a bad time?

Yes, and I totally agree because all my latest projects I’ve written are some of the best lyrics I have written in my entire life/career, and they came way easier than ever.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

Music designed to get to carry you through tuff times. In the face of adversity, music gives you a sense of hope or direction.

What’s your latest release?

Outside of what I mentioned already, my new album (Drazmatik) “Heart On My Sleeve The Motion Picture” Produced By Masada, The realest to date, I think all true hip-hop heads will love this one. Soulful tracks and meaningful lyrics with a lot of substance.

What do people say you sound like?

A breath of fresh air. Now that the mumble rap and Drill era is over, we can look forward to hearing some dope emceeing and fresh lyrics over raw beats, and having fun with it, hip-hop is supposed to be fun, and that’s what we tend to do. On the new album “Heart On My Sleeve The Motion Picture,” it’s a combination of Heart Felt emotions and Soulful gritty of the grittiest beats. Masada definitely produced a masterpiece while Drazmatik stood on business. It’s definitely a Classic body of work. The New Jersey hip-hop scene should be proud of this timeless album. What are you focusing your time on now?

I’m recovering from a bilateral double lung transplant, so I’m just doing some healing for now. Until then, I’ll be back more powerful than ever. God willing, but until then, y’all can sit back and enjoy Drazmatik “Heart On My Sleeve The Motion Picture.” The $hit is a classic album from start to finish. Produced by Masada, all scratches by DJ Jay-Ski, background vocals by Ruth Skeffi & Lewis Ray.
