DJ Akademiks recently claimed that Drake demonstrated his loyalty and generosity by flying to Atlanta to gift Young Thug $1 million shortly after the rapper’s release from Fulton County Jail. This gesture highlights the strong bond between the two artists, with Akademiks describing it as a “super strategic move” if true. He noted that Drake did not directly share this information with him but learned of it through insiders.
Drake has been a consistent supporter of Young Thug throughout his legal troubles. While Thug was incarcerated, Drake publicly showed his support by putting money on his books and even referenced him in his song “Sticky,” expressing a desire for Thug’s freedom. The two collaborated on tracks like “Oh U Went” and “Parade on Cleveland,” which were featured on Thug’s album Business Is Business, released while he was still in jail.
In the song “Oh U Went,” which was released in June 2023, Drake raps about loyalty and business, echoing themes of their friendship and collaboration. The album cover features Young Thug in a courtroom setting, emphasizing the gravity of his situation while still celebrating their musical connection.
In addition to this significant gesture towards Young Thug, Drake also recently supported another Atlanta artist, Latto, by performing during her headline show in Toronto. This performance marked their first collaboration and coincided with Latto receiving a Grammy nomination for her work on “Big Mama” .
