Doja Cat Announces Completion of New Album ‘Vie’

Doja Cat has announced the completion of her highly anticipated fifth studio album, ‘Vie’. The artist revealed the news in French on social media, writing, “L’album est complet,” which marks her first full-length release since ‘Scarlet’ and its deluxe edition, ‘Scarlet 2 CLAUDE’.

The album title ‘Vie’, which means “life” in French, hints at themes of love, romance, and sex—topics Doja Cat has previously teased as central to the project. While fans are still awaiting an official release date, the Grammy-winning performer has dropped several hints, including unreleased tracks and social media previews that suggest the project will arrive in 2025.

Taking a new creative direction, Doja Cat shared in a recent interview that ‘Vie’ will feature a more pop-centric sound compared to her previous work. “I know that I can make pop music, and pop is just that — it’s popular,” she said, emphasizing the album’s retro-inspired production and emotional depth. She explained that the album is about love and her hopes for the future, providing a refreshing contrast to the usual focus on heartbreak in pop music.

Fans have already heard snippets from ‘Vie’, including previews of songs like “Crack”—which was offered as a limited-time single in May—and “Jealous Type”, the latter showcased during a Marc Jacobs campaign. In late 2024, Doja Cat also revealed two potential tracklists, with titles such as “Acts of Service,” “Make It Up,” and “Did I Lie” making appearances alongside the fan-favorite “Crack.”

By exploring vintage pop sounds and themes of optimistic love, Doja Cat’s forthcoming album sets the stage for a new chapter in her career, promising an evocative and personal look into her evolving artistry.
