DDG and Halle Bailey Collaborate on Enhanced Version of “If I Want You”

After welcoming their first child in January 2024, Halle Bailey and DDG have finally released a long-awaited music collaboration. On the night of August 12, DDG unveiled a new version of “If I Want You,” featuring fresh vocals from Bailey.

In her contribution, Bailey sings, “There’s a lot of guys who would take care of me / Don’t think that you’re one and only / I deserve everything in the world / You could never bag a girl like me,” adding, “’Cause I will never need you / But I’ll ride you all night if I want to.” This updated track follows the original version from DDG’s 2022 album, It’s Not Me It’s You, where Bailey provided uncredited background vocals and starred as his love interest in the music video.

It remains unclear whether this new rendition will be part of a larger project or remain a standalone single. However, DDG has been active in 2024, releasing tracks like “Trickin’” on August 2, along with “copy my drip” and “she ain’t leaving” in the previous month. In March, he dedicated the song “Shoot Up Your Block” to their son, Halo.

Despite initially keeping their son’s identity private, the couple revealed him during a family trip to Italy in July. In response to negative comments about their lifestyle, DDG remarked, “I have to realize that my son is richer than them, and he has a more successful life,” highlighting their experiences in the first six months of Halo’s life.
