Blue Ivy Carter is all grown up.
Beyoncé and JAY-Z’s daughter officially turns 10 today. In honor of the milestone birthday, her grandmother Tina Knowles-Lawson shared a new photo of her granddaughter on the beach, looking all grown up in a black blazer, sunglasses, and Balenciaga sneakers.
Miss Tina also penned a heartfelt note to her “beautiful talented and super smart grandaughter.”
“God it seemed like yesterday you came into the world running things,” she wrote. “Blue is my little Capricorn Twin . I prayed for her to be born on my birthday but she did what she always does she came when she got good and ready three days later but we still share the bond.”
She continued, “She reminds me that ‘Grandma you are acting just like a Capricorn.’ Blue gives the best advice like a grown person. I sometimes forget that she is so young!!!”
She described Blue as “one of those rare gifted people that can do everything well,” adding, “God Blessed me the day you were born! My Sweet , Beautiful Baby Blue.”
At 10 years old, Blue Ivy has already accomplished so much. Her multiple accolades include an NAACP Image Award, BET Award, and Grammy Award for Best Music Video for Beyoncé’s “Brown Skin Girl.” She is also the youngest person to have a charted song on Billboard with her appearance on her father’s 2012 song “Glory.”
She recently appeared alongside her parents in ad campaigns for Tiffany & Co. and adidas x Ivy Park.
In a rare interview with Vogue for the December 2020 issue, Beyoncé opened up about being a mother to her three kids and adjusting to life during the pandemic.
“Blue is very smart, and she is aware that there is a shift, but it is my job as a parent to do my best to keep her world as positive and safe as can be for an eight-year-old,” Beyoncé said. “Blue saw some of the reactions to the ‘Brown Skin Girl’ video, as well as some of the videos from the philanthropic work I’ve done this year. When I tell her I’m proud of her, she tells me that she’s proud of me and that I’m doing a good job. It’s teeeeeew much sweetness. She melts my heart. I believe the best way to teach them is to be the example.”
