21 Savage, the British-born rapper who has been making waves in the US hip-hop scene, is finally returning to his homeland for his first-ever UK show.
The Slaughter Gang leader announced on social media that he will be headlining the O2 Arena in London on November 30, 2023.
The announcement came with a heartfelt video that showed footage of 21 Savage as a kid in London, soundtracked by Skylar Grey’s “Coming Home”. The rapper, whose real name is Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, was born in Plaistow, Newham, and moved to Atlanta, Georgia, with his mother at age seven.
He rose to fame with his mixtapes, The Slaughter Tape and Slaughter King, and his collaborative EP with Metro Boomin, Savage Mode. He has also released two studio albums, Issa Album and I Am > I Was, which both debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart. He has collaborated with artists such as Drake, Future, Post Malone, J. Cole, Offset, and Meek Mill.
In 2019, he was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for overstaying his visa and living in the country illegally. He was released on bond after 10 days in custody and later granted permanent residency in the US in 2021. He has since been able to travel freely outside the country and has performed in Canada and Jamaica.
His UK show is part of his planned international tour, which will also include stops in Europe and Australia. Tickets for the London show will go on sale on Friday, October 13, via Live Nation. Drake, who featured 21 Savage on his song “Sneakin'”, hinted that he might join him on stage by commenting “we’re” on his Instagram post.
21 Savage’s fans are excited to see him perform in his birthplace and show his versatility as a rapper. His UK show is expected to be a historic moment for the rap scene in both countries.
