Born in North Philly, Y.A.L.E. aka You Are Largely Evil, is now becoming a name known throughout the music industry. His passion for music began in his childhood years, making beats and pushing the boundaries of originality in hip hop. His musical taste gravitated to artists like Denzel Curry who is considered as one of this eraโs top talents.
Y.A.L.E. however, didnโt journey this path without obstacles in his way. Battling with the presence of his mental health, he has braved through every hurdle to better himself and create music that can also inspire the lives of kids that see the world through his perspective. The greatest accomplishment he aims to earn, is a legacy that spreads positivity and always advocates for fans to embrace who they are and be themselves.
With his latest single, โJordanโs Prayerโ released on SoundCloud, Y.A.L.E. exposes fans to the dreams that fuel the fire to his future. The track, currently receiving great attention on SoundCloud, will soon find its way on other major streaming platforms.
Today we had an exclusive chance to interview the artist:
What is your stage name and how did you come up with it?
My name is โYouth Are Largely Evilโ, I often just shorten it to Y.A.L.E. or โYale.โ No relation to the school of course. Itโs kind of a long story, but essentially, the name is just referring to how a lot of things young people do or care about, is perceived as โbadโ by older people. Itโs like a nonstop clash between โyoungโ and โoldโ people.
Where are you from?
I was born in North Philly, but moved to the suburb of Cheltenham in like 7th grade. Iโve been living in different parts of Philly since. Olney, Frankford, Oak Lane, Iโm in Torresdale right now.
Why did you first start making music?
I remember making beats on old flash games when I was pretty young. Iโve always loved music, and any time there was a chance to make something original I would always take it. In high school, I composed an original song that my school band played at graduation. Pretty fun times.
Have you heard the theory that some musicians write their best music while theyโre depressed or going through a bad time?
Iโm not sure about all that. I donโt think being in a bad place automatically makes your work good. Honestly, that may lowkey be a toxic mentality. Like, I definitely want my favorite artist to be happy.

What is still your biggest challenge?
Mental illness is always derailing my life in ways I definitely donโt intend for it to do. Iโm not sure if Iโll ever not deal with mental health issues, but I know I will always fight against them. Me and everyone else in Gen Z.
Are you religious? If yes, what is your religion?
Maybe not religious, I havenโt been to church in years ya know? I love God, I believe in Jesus, I could talk for hours about Christian theology. I went to a Christian University. Iโm definitely not a โChristian Rapperโ.
Whatโs your latest release?
โJordanโs Prayerโ just dropped on SoundCloud, and itโs definitely my best work so far. Iโll be everywhere else pretty soon. Itโs about my dreams.
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
Probably Denzel Curry, I think heโs still probably the best rapper that came out of my generation of talent. Chance the Rapper as well.

What is the most trouble youโve ever gotten into?
Ha, Iโm not that wild of a guy tbh. My bro and I got arrested once for having like. I shit you not, like a half a gram of bunk weed in my car. That was definitely a fun night, special thanks to Radnor Police Department. We got off with community service and a few thousand in fines. Most expensive weed Iโve ever paid for.
What do you want your legacy to be? How do you want to be remembered?
life has been a lot of ups and downs. I just want to be remembered as a guy who did what he wanted to do, and hopefully made more people smile than he did frown. I donโt want kids at the moment, so having the chance to have a phenomenal career that inspires weird black kids like me, would be a dream come true I think. Just be yourself, and do you.
