ARN: What is your legal name and age?
Mr L-BO: Lamar Lopez, 33.
ARN: Where are you from?
Mr L-BO: Originally born in Beaufort, South Carolina. I was a military brat so I moved around a lot growing up. I always seemed to find my way back to Northern Virginia’s Fairfax and Loudoun County. I graduated from Heritage High School in Leesburg Virginia, which is approx. 40 miles west of Washington D.C.
ARN: Where are you now?
Mr L-BO: Currently living in Round Hill, VA.
ARN: Talk me through your creative process.
Mr L-BO: I look for dope production first. I find a dope beat that matches my vibes and then I cook up to it. I like to write for days or even weeks on the same beat to get my best work. I compare it too fast food and a nice wholesome home cooked meal. I could cook up something real quick in the microwave that would be delicious. I could also go shopping get the ingredients follow the recipe and cook the meal from scratch. The slow roast usually keeps you full longer, leaves you more satisfied, and is more than likely healthier for you.
ARN: What’s the best advice you ever received?
Mr L-BO: ‘Success is where preparation meets opportunity.” – Unknown
This quote literally gave me clarity. And it forced me to stop making excuses for myself. If things weren’t right, it was obviously because I didn’t prepare enough.
ARN: What’s the coolest, most important show you’ve played to date?
Mr L-BO: I performed at the @CapitolLeap Concert Series at Opera Lounge in Washington D.C.; the event was sponsored by @Forbes8.

Mr L-BO: My latest release is titled ‘Remind Me’ produced by ChrisBeatz (@ChrisBeatz703), a known producer from the area, most notably for his work with DC rapper Light Show (@LightShow10thPl). Before ‘Remind Me’ I released a song called ‘Pull Up’ produced by @JessiTheProducer, who has worked with Wale, Kevin Gates, Fat Trel, WillTheRapper, and Virginia rapper Young Moe.
ARN: Who do people say you sound like?
Mr L-BO: Jay Electronica, Jay Z, Pusha T.
ARN: What’s your best advice for handling criticism?
Mr L-BO: Take it with a grain of salt. Don’t let it define you.
