Rapper No Savage was the hope of the city, arguably hailed as one of the best putting the hood on. He even singed a major label deal and was on his way to taking over, but he fell for the trap and allowed himself to get tricked out his position. The good ole, buss shots behind a opp in public, but this time he did it in a high end mall with tons of kids and families around. The cops vowed to put him under the jail to make a statement. This is the No Savage story. Let’s chop it up and break it down.
Noah Settles aka No Savage
the DMV rapper carrying the city on his back came up on 37th street south east of Washington DC https://youtu.be/M2toh0bn6ho (1:15-1:22)
No Savage was in the trenches surrounded by regular hood activities and the wolves tryna make a come up by any means necessary https://youtu.be/M2toh0bn6ho (1:24-1:48) Unlike many trench babies in the rap game, No Savage had the blessing of having two parents who loved him, but that still didn’t come with a mansion and protection from the vices surrounding them. No Savage had to endure the struggle of trying to make it out of the streets that claims so many lives. Knowing this, even as a kid he had to be a man and pay attention so he wouldn’t become a statistic of the trenches https://youtu.be/M2toh0bn6ho (2:01-2:40)
No Savage didn’t let that stop his drive to become somebody. Music became his outlet, and once he found he had the skill to make songs that people could relate and listen to, he started putting in time in the stu https://youtu.be/M2toh0bn6ho (3:56-4:14) Finally it seemed like he was embracing his childhood passion he had in the days rapping in the hood with the homies just kicking it https://www.youtube.com/shorts/q37sjEGQ6ew
Still No Savage was one foot in the industry and one foot in the streets.
Eventually his lifestyle resulted in him not graduation, but ironically later with his fame he was the reason the school wouldn’t close down https://youtu.be/M2toh0bn6ho (2:49-3:14)
The older No Savage grew, seemed the more the streets had him in a chokehold. With that came the beefs, and there were times where he nearly got murked. In a live IG post, No Savage came clean about some things he endured in his life and dropped the bars “you can’t trust no one, f’d iup in the head, I really took one in the head” meaning the opps caught him lackin and he got a head shot but survived. In an interview he was asked bout the bars and confirmed it was real life facts no cap https://youtu.be/5XBzgyLRszc (6:45-7:18) As if that wasn’t traumatizing enough, No Savage had to stomach the pain of losing his close homie and fellow DC rapper Swipey who was murked in August 2016
They came up on the same block https://youtu.be/X3BawoAT6_k (0:18-0:27) Swipey was like his brother for real and that loss sent No Savage down a dark path. Shelters and juvenile detention, the whole nine Savage was going through https://youtu.be/5XBzgyLRszc (10:13-10:38) Him and Swipey used to just be freestyling kicking it. Messed up that he was on his way up in the rap game and now his partna wasn’t there to even do a track together https://youtu.be/5XBzgyLRszc (10:52-11:13)
Bro seen some things and been through some things, but he kept it pushing. Little did he know his struggle was about to be flipped on its head top and turned into fame. No Savage was making his music, carelessly sending it through email and somewhere along the line hackers caught him lacking and an early unfinished song was leaked https://youtu.be/69GVLRgKeYE (2:21-2:40) https://youtu.be/69GVLRgKeYE (1:34-1:45) The song was passed around like a rap chain on a greasy neck tour in school and turned out that was the best thing to happen to bro cause it caught traction and his name started buzzing https://youtu.be/69GVLRgKeYE (0:57-1:30) I got a hold of the unreleased song he was referring to named “Why is u broke” and it’s a banger fr https://youtu.be/1qzr2f7M1C8 (0:27-0:43)
From there, No Savage just built on the momentum. It was bro time to shine. He continued stacking up his catalogs dropping bangers like “No Hook” https://youtu.be/MDKbqT8tBs8 “Slime For Fun” https://youtu.be/3ysFpb0YsAM and the viral track “Reaper” https://youtu.be/Hrabo3_pIBc
It seemed like No Savage had the juice and the sauce and was spilling all over the industry, pause. But the streets don’t like success, so when you achieving your dreams the opps start coming out the woodworks. Now 37th street was into it with another DC crew known as Simple City aka SIMP out the Benning Heights region and No Savage was at the heart of the beef.
Diss tracks were flying every which way, online lives going back and forth, but one opp would play a pivotal role in getting No Savage tricked out his position – Active Balla
Active Balla ain’t no regular opp. In fact, he goes by his second alias that got the streets in a bind, the Top Opp. Ion know bout you, but to be dubbed the top opp you gotta be on some villainry that take the hood shenanigans to unprecedented levels. Active Balla don’t give a damn, he demand his respect https://youtu.be/4gQIKH58jxI (6:37-6:55) He been in the streets streets and been in them concrete streets behind bars on more than one occasion, one time even serving 6 years before coming home and going right back in a few months later https://youtu.be/4gQIKH58jxI (1:58-2:28) https://youtu.be/4gQIKH58jxI (2:48-3:04) Like many of these city’s, the opps be right around the corner and it ain’t no different for 37th street and Simple City, but according to Balla, that ain’t nothing to a gangster and the opps like No Savage gta be the ones on the lookout for him https://youtu.be/4gQIKH58jxI (7:05-7:37)
Active Balla would come for No Savage neck on the diss track “Flush Em” featuring another 37th street opp Cruddy Murda
Multiple times through the song, Active Balla references No Savage being hit in the head, confirming what No Savage said earlier in the interview when he was asked about it https://youtu.be/O0XosxQEk4Y (0:21-0:31) But Active Balla didn’t stop there, bro tossed respect out the window and also mentioned Savage’s dead homie Swipey https://youtu.be/O0XosxQEk4Y (1:52-2:05)
Active Balla wanted all the smoke and used social media to his advantage. June 3rd 2021, he would post a couple pics to his IG posted up in No Savage block with the caption “Posted on the Opp Block I’m really the Top Opp🥱”
No Savage wasn’t going to just sit back and accept the foolery and shot back with a couple shots of his own online
No Savage wasn’t pulling no punches and was going off on bro for real and called him a rat
He would drop the scorching banger “Angels & Gangstaz” where he again dissed calling Balla a rat https://youtu.be/aU8e5JgGhG0 (0:31-0:46)
The beef kept beefing, but it seemed like No Savage was ahead of it and blowing up music wise. He went on to sign a deal with 300 and his name was stamped as the next to take over https://youtu.be/JH75sIT3XJM (22:04-22:48) He was carrying the DMV on his back for real with everything he on https://youtu.be/JH75sIT3XJM (3:28-3:54)
The pieces was coming together and bro was maturing and moving on to bigger better things https://youtu.be/JH75sIT3XJM (12:28-13:31) No Savage was cutting off the dead weight and just keeping real people who shared his dream around like his unc who was also his manger https://youtu.be/JH75sIT3XJM (0:18-0:32) https://youtu.be/JH75sIT3XJM (8:06-8:52)
It seemed like No Savage found his wave and was bout to ride to the top, but, the opps wasn’t going for it and create a situation that ultimately got Savage facing football numbers behind bars. Saturday, June 18th 2022, it was Father’s Day weekend and the Tyson Corner Center Mall was packed with families and kids enjoying their day.
The mall is rated as one of the premiere malls in the region as a safe family oriented zone where all are welcomed to enjoy
So what was about to happen that day would ruin No Savage’s career. The opps caught Savage lackin in the mall and whipped out the video camera while trying to press bro. Savage though wasn’t going and could be seen clutching his waste trying to get the men from buggin him https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Kz1Xb0VKZjE
Another camera angle captured shows the faces behind the camera and we should have known it was none other than the Top Opp Active Balla and his homies that was on bro case https://youtu.be/nD9-YdKKKVs (0:00-0:06)
The next thing we know, news is hitting the air waves about a shooting at the mall and they had No Savage as the prime suspect responsible for upping the pole and tryna knock Balla head off right there around everyone. Footage shows the moment he came through the cut with the pole and let the hammer fly sending people running https://youtu.be/Wa2-CTVfLQE (0:17-0:36)
Bro was caught in 4K, had ever angle of the scuffle including new footage https://youtu.be/0JFu-Wa-B1o (0:32-1:03)
In this time where mass shootings is becoming the norm, this was the worst place to do this. People were in fear and scattering for their lives, some being injured due to the rampage to escape https://youtu.be/dFA-JKMRc10 (0:59-1:06) What made this even worse for No Savage was the footage of people screaming as if it were a terrorist attack. It was straight pandemonium https://youtu.be/oKxXj0jfgpA
Officers didn’t stick on getting on his top https://www.youtube.com/live/7Z80qtqmqrg?feature=share (1:22-2:14) They gave the vehicle number and everything and was out for his arrest https://youtu.be/dFA-JKMRc10 (0:48-0:58) If caught, Savage was facing charges for attempted malicious wounding, discharging a weapon into an occupied building, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony https://youtu.be/dFA-JKMRc10 (1:07-1:16)
They had bro plastered on every chanel, and what’s worse, is bro was already fighting a gun case from 2019 and 2020 https://youtu.be/MwMMm2jnRPM
No Savage made the smart move to turn himself into law enforcement instead of having them hunt him down.
A press conference was held and things weren’t looking good for bro https://www.youtube.com/live/IbEJosehO9I?feature=share (2:37-2:48) https://www.youtube.com/live/IbEJosehO9I?feature=share (1:13-1:28)
They had him tied to the 37th street gang and had documented info on the deadly fued with Simple City and connected the mall shooting to their beef https://www.youtube.com/live/IbEJosehO9I?feature=share (2:05-2:34) https://www.youtube.com/live/IbEJosehO9I?feature=share (7:40-8:47)
The fact that this was such a family oriented and reuputable mall made it worse because now law officials are going to make an example. This ain’t the streets this a place packed with people and people coming for relaxation and enjoyment purposes https://www.youtube.com/live/IbEJosehO9I?feature=share (17:30-18:33)
New reports soon reported the conference info about the two gangs publicly, adding even more pressure on law enforcement to get justice against No Savage https://youtu.be/t544zEfHjQY (0:23-0:40)
Many argue he could beat the case claiming self-defense but according to Fairfax Police Chief Kevin Davis there’s one piece of damning footage that would make that extremely difficult. No Savage left after the scuffle and then returned to buss a cap in the opps. If he had shot in the scuffle then yea self-defense may be a better case, but things was squashed and bro came back gunning, he left the danger scene planned to come back and catch a body and acted on them plans https://www.youtube.com/live/IbEJosehO9I?feature=share (12:51-13:32) https://www.youtube.com/live/IbEJosehO9I?feature=share (15:16-15:38)
No Savage was denied bail and was in for the fight of his life
Things went from bad to worse. In September 2022, a Fairfax County grand jury approved seven charges against No Savage including two new ones – brandishing a firearm and possession of a concealed firearm.
Facing up to 43 years in the pen
No Savage made the best decision he could to get a lesser sentence and plead guilty to three counts of malicious discharge of a firearm in an occupied dwelling and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The other charges were misdemeanors and dropped as part of the deal https://youtu.be/YFRDi8RkOfY (0:28-1:17)
No Savage is guaranteed a minimum 3 year sentence but prosecutors want the judge to give him way more for the seriousness of the crime. June is his sentencing date and he’s facing up to 33 years behind bars https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/rapper-accused-of-opening-fire-in-tysons-corner-mall-pleads-guilty-to-4-charges/3275572/ (2:07-2:32) https://youtu.be/YFRDi8RkOfY (1:52-1:58)
The fingers now started pointing at Balla, labeling him a snitch for bringing a camera that recorded evidence of the altercation and that he didn’t even stand his ground, but instead got to skedaddling, but the Top Opp had somn to say about that https://www.youtube.com/shorts/2dA1U-QBYMU https://youtu.be/peMnpAtbkic
Before he turned himself in, No Savage posted a last day out video apologizing to fans and anyone at the mall who was scared and traumatized. Is it too little too late? Or would the judge go easy on him? I’ll keep ya’ll up to date on the sentencing https://youtu.be/EHOXu9O6PUE (0:00-0:47)
So there you have it. Thanks for kicking it with yah boy, appreciate the love and support. Catch ya’ll in the next one. Peace up and peace out
