The Final Hours of Eazy-E

1995, the world was about to lose a figure that was controlling the youth, the streets, and using his music to speak on the things taboo to society. He was at odds with the law because he went from a gangster, to a gangster millionaire as the godfather of gangster rap and the Indie label CEO of Ruthless Records which housed the legendary rap group NWA https://youtu.be/dSTadcQdcz4 (0:00-0:04).

In that time, the remnants of how black persons were negatively perceived still lingered, so for an African American gaining this much money, power, respect, and voice throughout the world, it was a big deal. His name was Eric Wright known globally as Compton rapper Eazy E.

Early 1995, Eazy E began experiencing breathing complications as his chest was feeling unnatural. Brushing aside serious concern, it was assumed to be in part to something minor like Asthma, but, soon he would find out, that wasn’t to be the case. The weeks carried on and progressively the issue continued to the point where he checked into the hospital approximately around February 16th 2015. Eazy E would spend around 3 days in the hospital before being released around February 19th. He was feeling better, doing well enough to even go directly from the hospital to the pharmacy to get medication, to the studio with his close friend and protege BG Knocc Out https://youtu.be/Z_hZZASCJRE (5:11-5:38).

Over the next few days, Eazy E would still have some uneasiness in his chest as recalled by one of his artists, Frost.

Eazy E had informed him that he wasn’t feeling too well and his chest was congested https://youtu.be/wnuhHzMmk4s (0:59-1:13) https://youtu.be/wnuhHzMmk4s (1:35-1:43).

Around the 24th of February, Eazy E was in the studio with BG Knocc Out and other associates working on their album. Eazy E had a part to do before the album could be completed and turned in but he wasn’t in the recording room so Knocc Out went to get him. He found Eazy E in the back of the studio in the hallway and had to go and come back about 3 times to speed up Eazy E to come inside, but Eazy E would just tell him “hold on” signaling he’ll be there in a second https://youtu.be/VaeAcs4HjZI (0:15-0:26).

Things would take a drastic decline the last time he went out to get Eazy E. BG Knocc Out found him wheezing heavily and drawing for his inhaler to try and clear his breathing passageway.

He recalls as he and Eazy E were conversing, Eazy began sweating profusely and his condition rapidly deteriorated to where he could barely speak https://youtu.be/VaeAcs4HjZI (0:27-0:39) It was about an hour and a half since being at the studio at that time. BG Knocc Out realizing something was gravely wrong with Eazy E and not simply asthma, called the bodyguards to rush him to the hospital. Eazy E’s lungs had collapsed https://youtu.be/Z_hZZASCJRE (6:09-6:22) https://youtu.be/VaeAcs4HjZI (0:00-0:14).

Eazy-E was admitted to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and it would be there that the most traumatic news of his life was given.

At that time no one knew, and everyone thought he was going to be treated for the congestion in his chest and all would be fine, but approximately 2 weeks before the world found out, Frost caught wind of what was wrong with Eazy E because his girlfriend at the time was at the hospital and called him. What she told him on that call was that Eazy E was placed on the AIDS floor of the hospital https://youtu.be/wnuhHzMmk4s (1:48-2:50).

No one wanted to believe what he was saying, but soon it would become evident that the information Frost got was correct https://youtu.be/wnuhHzMmk4s (2:57-3:16) By March 16th, Eazy E was in terrible condition. The decline of his health was crashing so at a conference on that day, Eazy E penned an alleged letter for his attorney Ron Sweeney.

The world was in shock, Eazy-E was dying before their very eyes, but his message opened the eyes of many of his fans to change their lifestyle and brought awareness to the disease https://youtu.be/cg5b47qCCV0 (1:45-2:37).

It didn’t take long before Eazy E was completely immobile. The doctor would later reveal before a conference that the disease had reached a critical stage,

to the point where Eazy contracted pneumonia and couldn’t even breathe on his own and was paralyzed. He was placed into an induced coma to simply preserve what little life he had left https://youtu.be/VC0mzW0WoQY (3:06-3:54) DJ Yella, a member of the group NWA co-founded by Eazy-E, recalls that after a risky surgery to clear his lungs, Eazy E was induced into the coma https://youtu.be/8d3ahFWG0Ms (1:30-1:49).

However, around March 24th, news vans and camera crews were camped outside trying to get any update on the rapper’s health.

Sadly, on March 26th 1995, approximately 10 days after his attorney announced his condition to the world, Eazy E passed away on his hospital bed https://youtu.be/7C6ZIpPaj8U (0:00-0:07) https://youtu.be/7C6ZIpPaj8U (0:13-0:23).

How Did Eazy-E Die? Allegations of a Cover-Up Continue
Eazy obit - Newspapers.com

The doctor went on record to state that his passing was due to the Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome aka AIDS https://youtu.be/VC0mzW0WoQY (1:43-1:54).

But, even darker times came after his passing because many came out stating their suspicions if Eazy E did in fact die from the disease, or if more importantly, the circumstances around how they claim he contracted it, because Eazy E lived a promiscuous lifestyle. Meaning, he had 11 kids from multiple different child mothers, not to mention others whom he had sexual relations with outside of them. So the question was, how did Eazy E have AIDS but not one of these people contracted the disease? https://youtu.be/dFGHQV8KMoA (1:37-2:03) https://youtu.be/9D_8eSWKE8o (5:40-6:16).

It appeared all of those who were close to Eazy E disagreed with the way he died, and instead felt like the rapid decline of his health was too swift and unnatural to a regular AIDS patient and that if he did in fact have the disease there was foul play included to end his life https://youtu.be/9D_8eSWKE8o (6:17-6:47) https://youtu.be/GzTZC8dkpzE (11:59-12:57) https://youtu.be/Rpjp-2pqkik (7:00-7:33).

His son Lil Eazy E became an AIDS activist after his father’s passing to learn about the disease and spread awareness and help those suffering from the ailment. The more he walked this path and obtained a wealth of knowledge about the disease, the more he had doubts about his father’s death https://youtu.be/p4zUaFyZ7ec (2:12-3:45).

The more time passed, the more suspicions arose about Eazy E’s death. This became increasingly the case when it was found out that his girlfriend who was pregnant with their child, Tomica Woods Wright, married Eazy E on his deathbed and was given control of his estate https://youtu.be/MoT5oHa92Dw (0:48-1:17).

Eazy-Taught Me on Tumblr

That brought more problems of its own with people now pointing fingers at her, the attorney Don Sweeney and others who were in the hospital room.

This was due to the fact that the marriage angle didn’t add up because if Eazy E was paralyzed and unconscious etc as the doctor claimed since March 15th https://youtu.be/VC0mzW0WoQY (3:25-3:53) then how could he have consciously made the decision of marriage and giving his now wife control of his estate and signing the will, even writing the letter the attorney read to the public? What’s more, from loved ones’ recollection, the marriage certificate didn’t have Eazy E’s handwritten signature, but it was typed on https://youtu.be/Z_hZZASCJRE (3:20-4:03) https://youtu.be/dFGHQV8KMoA (5:37-6:20) https://youtu.be/Rpjp-2pqkik (7:39-7:49).

Everything kept getting even more eerie with more details. Lil Eazy E went on an interview revealing some of the doctors at the time could no longer be found, signatures were forged, death certificate altered etc. which made the story of how Eazy E died become riddled with plot holes that couldn’t be filled logically https://youtu.be/p4zUaFyZ7ec (4:52-5:03).

Ebie, Eazy E’s daughter,

was adamant about the suspicions of her father’s death and did a deep dive research into what happened, from speaking with health professionals, to persons around the hospital at the time https://youtu.be/4DsqhRyXSRU (0:07-0:17) It was then the things the family knew started becoming public. Apparently, they were at odds with Tomica because other than her family, it’s alleged that the others only got 75,000 out of his 20 million+ fortune and then they were cut off and not given anything https://youtu.be/u_vuEibmsqY (1:22-1:38) https://youtu.be/u_vuEibmsqY (0:00-0:12) https://youtu.be/u_vuEibmsqY (0:40-1:04) https://youtu.be/F92nx45IYh0 (1:46-2:31) https://youtu.be/3pDCGLJohTQ (2:23-3:06).

A lot of things allegedly started being different than it originally was. For instance, it was first stated that his cause of death was Cardiac Arrest according to BG Knocc Out https://youtu.be/Z_hZZASCJRE (4:06-4:24) But then, when Ebie later sought for a death certificate, it was listed as Pneumonia due to AIDS https://youtu.be/EDfzioUeVqE (0:18-0:34).

This begs the question, was this the altered death certificate his son Lil Eazy E was speaking about? https://youtu.be/p4zUaFyZ7ec (4:59-5:03) Eazy E’z child mothers got into a legal battle with Tomica, and it’s alleged that the truth about Eazy E’s death was being uncovered and was near being discovered https://youtu.be/Z_hZZASCJRE (2:05-2:31).

And if the suspicions weren’t already staggering, an enemy of Eazy E went on national television and said something that made everyone question if he was in fact the mastermind behind Eazy E’s death https://youtu.be/vHqnqRvcKF8 (2:01-2:27).

N.W.A.'s manager Jerry Heller says not letting Eazy-E kill Suge Knight was "a big mistake"

Eazy E and Suge Knight were at odds after Suge Knight stole his artist Dr Dre from his Ruthless Records over to Death Row and it nearly resulted in a bloodbath of retaliations https://youtu.be/EpmMuQsbtv8 (26:48-27:52).

Hearing Suge Knight breaking down in detail how to kill someone by injecting them with HIV had many eyes his way. Knowing the ruthless person he was, it was believed by some that he was capable of doing it https://youtu.be/2C43VGo5DjI (3:27-3:45) BG Knocc Out would release the song “In My Prime” where he also stands on that side of the fence, believing that Eazy E was murdered https://youtu.be/B5Mzhkc1HG0 (2:41-2:45).

Frost would later also reveal where he believes the tainted blood was transferred, stating the deed had to be done when Eazy E went to do acupuncture and subliminally mentions Suge’s name, calling him the devil https://youtu.be/wnuhHzMmk4s (3:33-4:24) Ebie would take this claim to a medical professional asking the question if the virus can be transmitted to someone in this manner, and answer left the room silent https://youtu.be/AAVUDEQTWo0 (0:00-0:37) These revelations placed Suge Knight high on the list as a co-conspirator in Eazy E’s death, right along with another group speculated by some to be a suspect – the FBI.

Given Eazy E’s gang fuelled music and disrespect towards the cops with songs like “F Tha Police,” he was allegedly on the FBI’s radar https://youtu.be/Z7-TTWgiYL4 (4:05-5:12) https://youtu.be/dSTadcQdcz4 (7:06-7:18) In Eazy E’s final interview, it was revealed that the KKK had a hit on his head and the FBI allegedly knew this information but refused to inform him his life was in danger. Eazy E didn’t doubt that they wanted him gone https://youtu.be/fji8uXvLWeQ (0:58-2:32) https://youtu.be/fji8uXvLWeQ (2:46-3:21).

Later on, a doctor and HIV/AIDS specialist by the name of Dr. Wilbert Jordan was interviewed and stated that he treated two alleged women who claimed they contracted the virus from Eazy E and they’re still alive and well https://youtu.be/tbHvjPYinIs (0:30-0:58).

It appears the more the truth is sought after, the more the original story about his rapid decline of health, to being diagnosed with AIDS and death becomes more doubted, but a dead man tells no tales, and if in fact, his passing was foul play, that’s what those responsible was banking on.

Eazy E had built something monumental, not to mention led one of the most pioneering groups in hip-hop history, NWA.

The sad part, is that although the group fell out, months before he passed, they were reconnecting and reasoning out their grievances to reunite, but never got the chance https://youtu.be/dSTadcQdcz4 (20:27-20:40) https://youtu.be/P8wOuTn3744 (6:01-6:34) https://youtu.be/P8wOuTn3744 (7:19-8:09) https://youtu.be/mwUfAL4ODFM (1:33-2:00).
