Big Sean is keeping up the work rate despite only releasing his new album Detroit 2 this month. In the early hours of Thursday (September 24), Freddie Gibbs posted a video of himself in the studio alongside Sean Don and one of the busiest producers of the moment — Hit-Boy.
The Indiana rapper’s 36-second clip previewed new music they were working on while rapping along to the lyrics. Based on his Instagram caption, the song could possibly be called “4 Thangs.” about:blank
“Million Dollars Million Followers bitch that’s not the same. @bigsean @hitboy #4Thangs,” Gibbs wrote, quoting Sean’s lyrics.
Going back and forth with bars, one of Gibbs’ lines finds him comparing Sean to Detroit Lions Hall-of-Famer Barry Sanders.
“I fucked with Sean then he run the D like Barry Sanders,” Gibbs raps.
Hit-Boy also posted the video on his Instagram with the caption, “Freshman 10 cover connection @bigsean @freddiegibbs.” The producer is referencing the 2010 XXL Freshman Class, which Sean and Gibbs both featured in alongside Nipsey Hussle, J. Cole, Wiz Khalifa, Jay Rock, OJ Da Juiceman, Pill, Fashawn and Donnis.
Gibbs also tweeted about the studio session, saying, “Going byke to byke with @BigSean in the booth right now.”
Gibbs has been putting in some serious hours with Hit-Boy over the past week. On Saturday (September 19), his manager Ben “Lambo” Lambert posted a photo of the rapper and producer working in the studio.
That same day, Hit-Boy revealed Gibbs had recorded a verse for Benny The Butcher‘s new album Burden of Proof. Just like Nas’ King’s Disease, Hit is producing the entirety of the Griselda rapper’s project.
“Putting final touches on @BennyBsf new album I’m producing,” Hit-Boy said. “@FreddieGibbs just blessed the album ??♂️? #BurdenOfProof.”
Gibbs reacted by giving high praise to the project and producer, saying, “Classic. Hit a legend.”
Previously, the only time Sean and Gibbs have collaborated was on Mike Posner’s “Bring Me Down,” which appeared on his 2009 mixtape One Foot Out the Door.
