Flau’jae Johnson, star guard for Louisiana State University and a rising rapper, recently expressed heartfelt gratitude for Baton Rouge artist Boosie Badazz’s support during her appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast. Johnson spoke openly about her personal bond with Boosie, highlighting the crucial role he played in her life following the loss of her father, Georgia rapper Camoflauge, who was tragically killed in May 2003, six months before Johnson was born.
Reflecting on her unique upbringing, Johnson recalled, “Boosie got a heart of gold. He’ll give you his shirt off his back.” She referenced a lyric from Boosie’s song “Goin’ Thru Some Thangs,” noting the artist’s awareness of her father’s death and his commitment to caring for her as if she were his own child. Johnson emphasized that Boosie stepped in when she needed guidance or support, often providing assistance when her mother was unable to do so, despite never being asked for favors.
Johnson, who is signed to Roc Nation and maintains a successful dual career in basketball and music, praised Boosie for including her in his family life, allowing her to spend time at his home, relax by the pool, and forge lasting friendships with his children. She humorously admitted she doesn’t always agree with Boosie’s outspoken comments, stating, “I can’t defend him all the time ‘cause he says some off the wall stuff… That’s my uncle man, I don’t know…”
Through her candid remarks, Johnson offered insight into the enduring impact of community support and informal mentorship, underscoring how Boosie Badazz became an important father figure in her life after the tragic loss of her own.
