Cardi B Faces $50 Million Copyright Lawsuit Over “Enough (Miami)”

Cardi B is facing a $50 million copyright infringement lawsuit over her March 2024 single “Enough (Miami)”. According to the lawsuit filed in Texas, Joshua Fraustro and Miguel Aguilar, known professionally as Sten Joddi and Kemikal956, allege that Cardi B’s song used portions of their 2021 track “Greasy Frybread” without permission.

“Greasy Frybread” was previously used in a promotional campaign for the FX series “Reservation Dogs”. Fraustro and Aguilar claim they suffered “substantial damage” including financial losses and “irreparable harm” to their reputation and marketability. In addition to Cardi B, the lawsuit names producers OG Parker and DJ SwanQo, as well as record labels Atlantic Records and Warner Music Group as defendants.

However, Sten Joddi clarified on Instagram that he personally is not suing anyone, as he was only the writer and performer on “Greasy Frybread”. The lawsuit appears to be solely between the producers Kemikal956 and Joshua Fraustro against Cardi B and the other defendants.

As of July 4th, Cardi’s “Enough (Miami)” music video has over 30 million views on YouTube[3]. The track is the second single from her highly anticipated sophomore album, following “Like What (Freestyle)” which sampled Missy Elliott. Cardi has been teasing the album release, hinting it could come this year.
